One significant challenge I faced as a woman in tech leadership was navigating the pervasive unconscious bias and stereotypes. Research shows that women hold only 25% of tech jobs and are often underrepresented in leadership positions. This skepticism reflects systemic issues within the industry, not the abilities of women.
To address these challenges, I sought out mentors and allies who provided advice and support. I actively participated in industry forums, shared my knowledge through speaking engagements, and contributed to influential projects. These actions helped create and promote inclusive environments.
By recognizing and addressing unconscious biases, we can create a more equitable landscape for all. It is essential to advocate for and implement policies that support diversity and inclusion, ensuring future generations do not face the same barriers.

Cultivate resilience and confidence, and don’t be afraid to take on challenging projects or roles that push you out of your comfort zone.
Seek out mentors and role models who can provide guidance and support. It's also crucial to advocate for yourself and your achievements, ensuring that your contributions are recognized.
Stay adaptable and open to change, as the tech industry is constantly evolving. Lastly, prioritize self-care and work-life balance, as maintaining well-being is vital for sustained success.
How do you maintain a balance between your demanding career and personal life? What tips do you have for women struggling with work-life balance?
Maintaining a balance between my dynamic career and personal life requires intentional effort and prioritization. I set clear boundaries, ensuring that I allocate time for both professional responsibilities and personal well-being. One effective strategy is to establish a structured schedule, allowing dedicated time for work, family, and self-care activities. I also practice delegation and trust my team to handle tasks.
For women struggling with work-life balance, I recommend identifying and focusing on what truly matters to you, delegating some caretaking responsibilities and other tasks that normally fall on women, and actively engaging their family to share responsibilities equally, both at home and outside of work.
In the professional domain, it's important to communicate openly with your employer about your needs and ambitions. Practicing mindfulness and stress management techniques can also help maintain mental and emotional well-being. Remember that achieving balance is an ongoing process, and it's okay to adjust your approach as needed to find what works best for you.
